Back On The Horse
Behind The Lines - Vol.2
The last line I wrote was over three months ago. I penned a letter to my paid members, thanking them and explaining how I wanted to start a dialogue, only to drift off into silence — not exactly what you’d call a conversation. (Yes, I did just include an em dash, and no, this isn’t written by AI.)
Anyhow, after a year of not missing a beat, the well ran dry. The tank ran out of juice, and quite frankly, I had nothing to say.
But on the morning of March 26th, as I embarked on a twenty-six-kilometre ruck along the Camino de Santiago, words found their way back. The sky was cloudy, but my mind was clear.
The moment became precious because, for the first time in months, something that felt worthy of writing appeared effortlessly out of thin air. I remember feeling grateful for the inspiration, but not sure why it happened at that moment, in that place.
Back on the horse, I thought. Not quite, though. Instead, that moment became more like putting one foot in the stirrup. Like a horse refusing to enter the stalls, I’ve had the handbrake on since returning home. The starting line is right there, but I’ve been hesitant to cross it.
Until today, that is.
The message I needed to get my ass in gear reached me, and as the saying goes, good things come in pairs. The same truth, delivered by two unrelated people, through two separate mediums, both reminding me of what I experienced that day on the Camino:
Here and now, where truth exists and creativity is born.
Hearing their messages sparked an understanding of why I felt inspired to start a new project that morning, and it’s with that clarity that I’ve decided to stop kicking the can.
The core of the idea is clear, but I need to build it out now.
Today’s post was a closing of the stall gate. The only way is forward.
I’m back on the horse.
Stay tuned.

Niall
