Great article Niall! You’re bang on. There is a misrepresented view that Maslow’s ‘self actualisation’ is all about the individual and based on a selfish motivation, but I read recently that it’s actually about how a self-actualised person uses their powers to serve others. Ultimately, serving your tribe and achieving things as a collective is what we are biologically made to do.

Absolutely, Joseph!! It's an illusion that we are separate or individual. When we are of service to others, we feel at our best. I never typically ask anyone to share a specific post but if you feel like your network could benefit from reading this one, I'd be grateful. Hoping to spread the discussion as far and wide as I can. Cheers mate.

This is a fascinating topic and I feel it so much…like some nights I just feel an ancient longing to hear drums outside my window and a group of people (family) sharing food. I even tried to generate that for a while w playing in bands and yoga bands and stuff but there was always the subtle capitalism there even in music 🙈🤦🏻‍♀️ I love that you’re talking about it!!! Drum circles are one way I’ve found to get that community back- if/ when I can find them in my town😊☀️

Great read Niall, thought provoking.

That's exactly what we NEED right now. To truly think, reflect, find out about who we are as a person and what really is the truth in our lives?

Is it really true or are we simply following an illusion without thinking.

Worth finding out.

Hi Saima, thank you for reading! I enjoy providing thought-provoking ideas and engaging with the thoughts of those who read my work.

You're spot on in your reflection. This daily reflection takes us from unconscious autopilot to curious conscious living in line with our true nature.

Curious to learn what is important to you?

Curious conscious living in line with our true nature..I like that, beautifully said!

What's important for me is exactly as you said..curious and conscious living. More than anything else.

What's important to me is to live the day right and spend sometime doing what I love. Doing what is not work for me..more of a mission which has no deadline.

Spreading through my writing what I experienced to be true in my life and it's not what we all think at first - more money, better title, bigger house etc.

It's not those things.

What matters is to live each day as if there can be no tomorrow and to spread our message with those who need it most, perhaps those in some earlier steps than you in your life right now and all they need is that assurance and guidance that it's not the end of the world. You are enough as you are, right now.

Regardless of what the world expects of you.

It doesnt matter.

What matters is that you live to the fullest each day and do more of what makes you feel alive.

I hope I can share that, this is what matters most to me.

Absolutely fantastic article Niall - I love how you weave in the songs into this too. Some thoughts which really resonated with me:

- Interesting how the younger generations are more lonelier... I think your multifactorial reasons are on point

- Quality over quantity is another important factor in relationships (our evolutionary tribes were very small)

- Love Asake!

- "ego is killing community" is something we should all chew on for a while...

Keep them coming!

Thanks for your patience in my reply, Zan. I was on holiday. Asake has got some nice beats!

Appreciate you sharing what resonated. You're right — We evolved from small tight-knit communities and that's where we feel at our best. The more we can create that for ourselves, the better we will feel.
